UPDATE: Franklin does NOT need or want a full-time mayor

Franklin alderman Steve Taylor has responded in his usual un-statesmanlike manner to my blog about his selfish, carefully calculated proposal to have an advisory referendum on the November ballot calling for a full time mayor in Franklin.

Mind you, he never comes close to answering any of the questions I raised in my blog. For the second straight blog, Taylor implores Franklin taxpayers and voters that “It’s not about ME.”

Ummm, who is proposing the proposal?

Not about ME, Steve??? Please check out the number of times Steve (IT’S NOT ABOUT ME, BUT IT REALLY IS) Taylor uses the word "I" in his blog.

In my blog, I raised a series of legitimate questions about Taylor’s proposal. Does he answer any in his snotty rebuttal?

Apparently, Alderman Taylor made a rather weak and lame defense of his proposal at Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting. Franklin blogger Bryan Maersch has more on that.

No, I wasn’t at that meeting. I was at home with my baby, Kyla. Alderman Taylor suggests my opinion means nothing because he personally hasn’t seen me at any Franklin Common Council meetings. Hmmmmmmmmmmm…… This is a real toughie. Spend time at home with my lovely wife and adorable 16-month old daughter, or go to City Hall to watch Steve Taylor pontificate on why Franklin needs a full-time mayor, namely, him.

I've actually attended Frankiln Common Council meetings. BTW, Alderman Taylor, if you want to make this a contest about who attends government meetings and who doesn’t, go right ahead. You’d lose every time.

A few months ago, THE most serious issue affecting Franklin unfolded in Madison as BOTH the state Senate and state Assembly held public hearings on legislation to kill Franklin’s ordinances to restrict where released sex offenders could live and congregate.

Franklin Mayor Tom Taylor was there.

Franklin Alderman Kristen Wilhelm was there.

Franklin Alderman Ken Skowronski was there.

Franklin Alderman (and this one will really hurt, Steve Taylor) Steve Olson was there.

Franklin Alderman Steve Taylor who so desperately wants to be mayor was nowhere to be found on either of the TWO legislative public hearings. So, Alderman Taylor, don’t lecture me about attending meetings. Truth be known, 99.9999999% of Franklin residents don’t attend these meetings. That doesn’t mean they don’t count. They pay the hefty, and they are hefty, bills, Alderman Taylor. Show some respect for the people who do work hard to live here and may respectfully disagree with your ill-advised ideas.

As I write this, the Franklin Common Council is deciding whether to place the advisory referendum about a full-time mayor on the November ballot. I’m hoping they kill this silly idea and please, can we get back to top priorities like attracting business and jobs to Franklin and lowering our tax burden? Please.
