FRANKLIN NEWS BULLETIN: IMPORTANT BUDGET UPDATE

Franklin Mayor Tom Taylor proposed city budget is juuuuuuuuuusst a smidge below the limit increase allowed under state law so he’s feeling mighty good about the juuuuuuuuusst about 3 percent. Increase he proposed in the property tax levy for Joe and Josie taxpayer.

Ummm, that’s all well and good Mr. Mayor. OK This Just In readers, fellow Franklinites. Would all of you who got a 3 percent salary or benefit increase this year please run out into the street in your underwear and scream at the top of your lungs how happy you are about these bright economic times!

Hmmmmmm.

I really, really, really was hoping the mayor would propose a no tax increase budget a la…...

I'm kinda sure Mayor Taylor has heard of Scott. Anyway....

Maybe there’s still hope.

Wait a minute.

That’s right!

Joy of joys. The Franklin Common Council’s Finance Committee is diligently working on the city of Franklin budget submitted by the mayor even as we speak.

Saints be praised!

As they say in Vegas on Labor Day, let’s go to the tote board.

Alderman Steve Taylor sits on the Finance Committee. And he wants to be full-time mayor sooooo sooooo soooo bad he can taste it. Surely he has some vision and wisdom to assist taxpayers he could use in a future campaign against the eight dozen people who can’t wait to run against him, right? Right!

So, here are the top five original, thoughtful, creative, visionary, simply out of this world ideas Alderman Steve Taylor has for the budget to help beleaguered Franklin taxpayers. Let’s begin, ladies and gentlemen, let’s begin with….#5!

Oh, goodness. Must be a technical glitch with our blog tonight. Idea #5 will probably pop up the next time Steve Taylor blogs which should be Thanksgiving.

We move on.

Next!

Oh come on. This can’t be happening.

Man, there just has to be something wrong here.

Well, while we try to rectify whatever problem we seem to be having, I know what we can do. Let’s go to the top five original, thoughtful, creative, visionary, simply out of this world ideas Finance Committee member, Alderman Kristen Wilhelm has for the budget to help beleaguered Franklin taxpayers. Let’s begin, ladies and gentlemen, let’s begin with….#5!

Wilhelm seems to be suffering the same malady as Taylor. Can you believe it?

City of Franklin taxpayers, here’s the deal. Mayor Taylor has submitted a 3% tax increase budget even though the cost of inflation is barely over 1%.  The Finance Committee, whose members are appointed by the mayor FYI, is not your friend. They will merely rubber stamp the mayor’s budget, leaving the Common Council to work on it. Given the current makeup of the Council, I see one person willing to make any serious suggestions about passing a budget that’s fiscally responsible. That’s his vote against five. Franklin taxpayers, you’re dead. And don’t forget the Franklin School Board isn’t done screwing with you, or the MATC Board, or the MMSD.

Taxpayers, pay close attention to who does what to you, and those who do nothing (Steve Taylor, Kristen Wilhelm) and then remember them come Election Day.
