State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. This is not about legislation or stipulations of a bill. This is much larger than any bill or any member of the Wisconsin State Senate. This is about whether state government can function and exist as a sovereign body. This is about whether any state government can be held hostage by a minority of its members.
A little before noon today, the Wisconsin State Senate approved Senate Resolution One, ordering Senate Democrats to appear at the State Senate Chambers at or before 4:00 PM today. If they do not appear, the Senate Democrats will be guilty of contempt and disorderly behavior.
I truly hope it does not come to that.
