The Barking Lot (11/12/11)
The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of this just in…Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me. It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then it’s DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!
THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.
TODAY: Partly cloudy. High of 54. "B"
SUNDAY: Partly cloudy and windy. High of 56. "B"
Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog:
It’s been awhile since I’ve written about those kooky characters from PETA. (Sorry, can’t resist my standard, bumper sticker-inspired translation: People Eating Tasty Animals.)
These fine folks think Thanksgiving is a great time to put a guilt trip on kids for participating in that barbaric ritual of – gasp – eating turkey. They figure if they equate eating your pet dog to eating a piece of poultry that was raised to be on your plate, perhaps you’ll think twice about your entrée selection on the fourth Thursday of November. They never cease to amaze me with their wacko points of view.
One brilliant spokesperson for PETA stated, “There are lots of kids out there who just don't want to see a dead bird as a centerpiece at Thanksgiving dinner…” Really? Gee, these youngsters don’t seem to mention that part:
You can read their plan to “educate children on turkey plight” here.
Personally, I think David Gianatasio interprets things perfectly.
Next year, PETA, just try this cartoon:
