Cain Endorsement Helps Propel Deb Fischer to Big Nebraska Win
Congratulations to Deb Fischer for her huge win on Tuesday in the Nebraska Republican Senate primary! Herman Cain endorsed Fischer just days before the primary – joining Sarah Palin and other prominent voices in calling for Fischer to become the Republican standard-bearer.
She now takes on former Democratic Senator Bob Kerrey, who is seeking to reclaim the seat from which he retired more than a decade ago. Early polls show Fischer with a big lead, but this is not a race we can take for granted! We’ll be keeping you informed on Deb Fischer’s campaign, and on what we can all do to help ensure her victory.
Cain Headlines Rally for Common Sense
Herman Cain yesterday headlined the Rally for Common Sense, which was held in Holt’s Landing, Missouri and featured an all-star lineup of speakers such as Alfonzo Rachel, Dr. Gina Loudon, Alan Keyes, Mark Block, K. Carl Smith and a host of others.
Organized by volunteers seeking to promote constitutional principles in government, the rally has attracted enormous interest not only in Missouri, but around the country.
“The Rally for Common Sense was filled with joyful, exuberant patriots who understand what’s at stake and are determined to stand up for the constitutional principles that will restore limited government and return power to We the People,” Cain said. “It was an honor to be part of this event and to meet so many outstanding people.”
Cain Makes Mitt Romney Endorsement Official
Herman Cain backed up his words with action on Wednesday by officially endorsing Mitt Romney for president. Reminding supporters that the top priority is to defeat Barack Obama, Cain implored those who had supported other candidates – including him – to “get over it” and get behind the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee.
What’s more, as a result of a very positive meeting recently between Romney and Cain, and encouraging action that has followed, Cain indicated his growing enthusiasm for the Romney candidacy.
“Mitt Romney gets the big things right,” Cain said. “That’s the big difference between him and Barack Obama. The biggest problems our nation faces, Mitt Romney will solve. Barack Obama will not. Whatever other disagreements we may have, nothing is more important than that.”
The endorsement followed Cain’s participation in “The More Perfect Union Panel” – a Washington gathering of leaders of the nation’s most influential TEA party groups, which occurred on Wednesday. Also attending was U.S. Representative Michelle Bachmann (R-Minnesota) and the leaders of TeaParty.net, Tea Party Nation and Tea Party Patriots, groups that have been instrumental in leading the charge to mobilize Americans to take back power that rightfully belongs to the people, not government.

Cain Piece in Wall Street Journal Urges Return to Sound Money
“Think of economic growth as the result of two gears operating together—low tax rates and sound money. When both gears are fully engaged, the economy moves forward. When the gears become disengaged, the middle class suffers. That’s why, as convinced as I am in the power of the 9-9-9 concept, we need sound money to go with it.
Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution grants power to Congress “to coin Money, [and] regulate the Value thereof.” But for the last 40 years in Washington, regulate has meant manipulate, with the Federal Reserve raising and lowering interest rates and buying and selling assets at its own discretion. All of this manipulates the value of the dollar. We regulate time by making sure an hour is always a fixed quantity of minutes and a foot is always a fixed quantity of inches. The more complex a society, the more it depends on fixed and rigorously reliable standards. A dollar should be defined—as it was prior to 1971 under the postwar Bretton Woods system—as a fixed quantity of gold.”
The online version of the piece is behind the Journal’s pay wall, but you can see a preview as well as the many reader comments here.
