Urgent update from Wisconsin

I’m rushing you this short note from our AFP tour bus, which has just stopped in Hudson, Wisconsin.

I wanted you to be the first to know that we’ve been warmly encouraged by AFP activists and new friends at every stop. And now, I’m convinced we’re once again winning the fight for the future of Wisconsin.

But, before I say more, I hope you’ll click here your immediate donation of just $5 or $10—or anything you can afford right now—to keep AFP’s multi-city “A Better Wisconsin” bus tour rolling.

I hope you remember March 2011, when Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker first proposed far-reaching reforms to balance their budget without raising taxes. Back then, public worker unions bused thousands of “activists” to Madison—and Democrats in the state legislature fled across state lines, rather than take a losing vote.

But it was our side that ultimately won—with AFP leading the charge, with dozens of rallies statewide, and our game-changing “Stand with Walker” petition signed by 128,000 Americans nationwide.

And, over the past year, Wisconsin erased their deficit and balanced their budget—and did it all without tax hikes or mass layoffs of state workers.

Wisconsin is truly economic freedom in action—and, believe me, we’re working hard to fight for reforms like these all across our country.

And as much as the Left likes to claim otherwise, it’s average Americans like me and you leading the fight. In fact, just the other day in West Allis, Wisconsin, I met a woman named Lou, who proudly told me that she’s “one of the first 500 AFP activists in Wisconsin”—and that she volunteers with AFP because she wants a better America for her two grandkids.

Thanks to people like you and Lou, we’ve had some critical successes over the last year—but the liberal Left is fighting to roll back these policy victories. They’re going so far as to recall Gov. Walker with a special election this Tuesday—an election that the Democratic Party is already calling a critical “dry run” for Obama’s reelection campaign.

Liberals want to turn the time back in Wisconsin, back to when it was closed for business, out of money, and dominated by public union bosses—and they’ll do so in every other state in America too, unless we take our case right to the America people today.

That’s why I’m currently on the road with AFP—on our four-day “A Better Wisconsin” bus tour—and, believe me, people are more energized about Wisconsin’s reforms than I’ve ever seen them.

We’re working hard to let Wisconsinites know that free market reforms are making their state a better place and putting grassroots pressure on politicians to embrace fiscal discipline and a balanced budget in the months ahead and into 2013.

Can we count on your critical support right now, to help bring the truth to the American people about Wisconsin’s reforms?

Click here to send your much-needed contribution of $5, $10, $20 or more right away.

Thank you for your help. You’re helping AFP have the maximum impact—and you’re helping us show our friends and neighbors that commonsense free market reforms are already working across America.

Sincerely,

Tim Phillips, President
Americans for Prosperity

P.S. With Wisconsin’s wildly successful reforms under attack by the liberal Left, we need your help today to make our case directly to the American people. Help by chipping in $5, $10, $20 or more right away by clicking here.
