Ms. Elaine Kneeous

Jennifer is a one in a million stay-at-home mom. (More like one OF a million stay at home moms!) She graduated from a liberal arts college but there is nothing liberal OR artsy about her. She is married to Kevin Fischer of This Just In, and together they have a beautiful toddler daughter Kyla Audrey. In no particular order she loves dogs, wine, a good bargain, her family, pizza, and entertaining. Follow her blog of all things miscellaneous including but not limited to cooking and baking, entertaining and party planning, being a mommy, and homekeeping.

Please, Someone Feed That Mouse!

In case you’re wondering where I’ve been the last few days, I can tell you with all certainty I didn’t jet off to this place.  No, it’s just been a busier-than-normal week.  You see, earlier this year, I said that I’m proud to be considered Plus-Sized.  That hasn’t changed.  Now, if the Flat Tummy Fairy decided to wave her wand over my midsection, I wouldn’t complain.  But I’m never going to have perfect abs and I’ve made my peace with that.

While I think proper nutrition and exercise certainly have their place, I subscribe to the theory of “Go ahead and have that cupcake; you could get hit by a bus tomorrow.”  Really, life is far too short to deprive yourself of an occasional treat.

I think that once you come to terms with your body type and shape you’ll be in a much better place.  There’s nothing wrong with eating good food and working out for the sake of overall health.  Most likely though, the happiest gals are the ones who love their bodies even if those bodies AREN’T 5’11” and 110 pounds.

Take this icon for example:

Does she look obese to you?  Didn’t think so.  I’ve been lucky enough to give Minnie Mouse LOTS of hugs in Walt Disney World.  She doesn’t exactly carry a lot of extra poundage.  I think she looks B-E-A-UTIFUL in her signature red dress with white polka dots.  Apparently though, she’s not quite svelte enough to rock a Lanvin dress.  (Hmm…  I don’t think Walt is turning over in his grave because Minnie doesn’t look anorexic in a couture costume.)

However, since Disney teamed up with Barney’s (that’s with an apostrophe S, the store; not that horrific purple dinosaur) it seems the “famouse” faces of Minnie, Daisy, and Goofy just aren’t slender enough to carry designer duds.  Wow.  Those poor CLASSIC, MUCH-LOVED, IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZEABLE, TIMELESS characters just aren’t perfect enough to grace the runway “as is.”

I fault no one for being healthy, beautiful, and thin, as mentioned above.  However, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  SERIOUSLY.
