Tammy Baldwin's Healthcare Tax Will Hit Nearly 6 Million Americans

Madison, WI - After ramming through her $1.76 trillion job-killing healthcare law through Washington, Madison liberal Tammy Baldwin's legislation will hit nearly 6 million hard-working Americans with a tax penalty.

Congressional budget analysts now predict the healthcare law will hit millions of middle class Americans with a tax that is expected to cost $1,200. Notably, Baldwin actually supported a more liberal version of government-run healthcare.

"The effect of Madison liberal Tammy Baldwin's costly government-run healthcare is quite simple, 6 million Americans are facing higher taxes because of her," said spokeswoman Lisa Boothe. "Not only did she support her party's disastrous healthcare law, but she has advocated for a complete and total takeover of the system. Now, because of her support, families in Wisconsin and across America could be hit with a $1,200 penalty. As Election Day approaches, Wisconsin voters should ask themselves: Can we afford Tammy Baldwin's extreme agenda in the United States Senate?"

WASHINGTON - Congressional budget analysts are now estimating that nearly 6 million Americans - most of them in the middle class - will have to pay a tax penalty for not getting health insurance once President Barack Obama's health care law is fully in place.

That's 2 million more than a previous estimate found, or a 50 percent increase. The average penalty will be nearly $1,200.

Starting in 2014, the new health care law requires virtually every legal resident of the U.S. to carry health insurance, or face a tax penalty. The Supreme Court upheld Obama's law as constitutional after finding that the penalty fell within the power of Congress to impose taxes.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday the penalty will raise $6.9 billion when fully in effect in 2016.

Wisconsin Bankers Association
Announces Support for Tommy Thompson

Madison, WI - The Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA), the state's largest financial industry trade association which represents 300 commercial banks and savings institutions, announced its support for Tommy Thompson for U.S. Senate today.

"The Wisconsin Bankers Association is proud to endorse Tommy Thompson in his bid for the United States Senate," said Rose Oswald-Poels, WBA President and CEO. "Governor Thompson has a proven record of creating jobs and maintaining a regulatory environment that fosters economic growth. We are confident that he will bring the same pro-growth agenda that defined his career as governor to Washington, D.C. We strongly urge all 30,000 of our members to vote for Tommy Thompson for U.S. Senate this November."

As governor, Tommy Thompson helped create more than 740,000 jobs in the state of Wisconsin and cut taxes 91 times. His pro-growth, tax-cut agenda saved taxpayers $16 billion and allowed the economy to flourish.

"I am honored to have the endorsement of the Wisconsin Bankers Association," said Tommy Thompson. "WBA members stimulate our economy and help protect and grow valuable assets for businesses and individuals. In order to get our economy moving again, it is imperative that we create an environment that allows businesses to grow and expand. In the Senate I will work hard to get federal spending and debt under control so that the private capital markets can function and prosper. The WBA recognizes my proven record of job creation in Wisconsin, and they know that I will do it again in Washington, D.C."

Thompson has earned the support of several trade groups, including the Community Bankers of Wisconsin, Wisconsin REALTORS Association and the Wisconsin Restaurant Association, who recognize his proven record of success as Governor of Wisconsin and as Health and Human Services Secretary.
