QUOTES OF THE WEEK

"It was the correct call.  I didn't do anything wrong. You have to not only have the ball but have either two feet or a body part on the ground, and that never happened. Put any other official who knows the rules and they would make the same call. I don't appreciate the negative stuff.  We did a damn good job . . . for the most part."
NFL replacement ref Lance Easley who made the touchdown call that robbed the Green Bay Packers of a win over the Seattle Seahawks doesn't think he made a mistake.

“That’s the beauty of sports and the beauty of officiating, is that there are controversial calls and people see them differently.”
N.F.L. Commissioner Roger Goodell

“I want to see fire in the belly, lit up and ready to go.”

Governor Walker referring to Mitt Romney and his campaign.

“I think it was absolutely the right thing for us to do to align ourselves with democracy, universal rights, a notion that people have to be able to participate in their own governance,” Obama said. “But I was pretty certain and continue to be pretty certain that there are going to be bumps in the road because, you know, in a lot of these places, the one organizing principle has been Islam.”
President Obama during  an interview on “60 Minutes” that was part of a larger discussion of whether recent events had given him any pause in his support for governments that had arisen following the Arab Spring.

“The president characterized as ‘bumps in the road’ the developments of the Middle East — we just had an ambassador assassinated. Egypt has elected a Muslim Brotherhood or person as president. Iran is on the cusp of having nuclear capability. We have tumult in Syria and also Pakistan, and I don’t consider these bumps in the road — I think this is a time for American leadership domestically. The president’s policies are a continuation of the past four years.”
Mitt Romney blasting Obama’s ”bumps in the road”  remarks as both insensitive and inaccurate.

“…a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”
President Obama speaking to the United Nations.

"I told folks I'm just supposed to be eye candy here for you guys.”
President Obama to the women on “The View.”

"He gave us a phone. He's going to do more."
