Eggnog. Really, what says “Christmas” more than eggnog? If you’re underage, fine to indulge in an alcohol-free version. But please, PLEASE, P-L-E-A-S-E, do not search for this. It is the holiday season. If you are not going to indulge in full fat egg nog, you might just as well look for carrot sticks in your stocking. I’m sorry but this time of year is for merry-making and happiness. Give yourself a break; that’s what New Year’s resolutions are for.
I must confess I have never made from-scratch egg nog. I don’t know why, really. But I love the flavor, and the endless baking and cocktail possibilities it delivers. The creaminess combined with spiciness lends itself perfectly to treats from the oven.
An online search a couple of years ago led me to a delicious cookie recipe that is now a regular in my Christmas baking routine. It states, “These cookies are purported to be similar to a brand name cookie.” I have absolutely no clue what that cookie might be and quite frankly I don’t need to know. All I know is that it is fabulous. And yes, they freeze perfectly.
