The new school year has arrived and we are thankful for all of the students and staff who are returning to us this year. Our staff has been preparing, training and anxiously awaiting the return of our students so we can begin our educational efforts. Many participated in summer cohort groups, researching the latest innovations in education and working together to create ways to implement those ideas in the classroom beginning this fall.
Here in Greendale, we are proud to offer an educational experience that is well rounded and academically rigorous. Our departing senior class of 2013 performed well and received high marks on the ACT and Advanced Placement coursework, and they also participated and benefitted from the additional opportunities offered to them in band, theatre, sports and school clubs and activities.
In the spring of 2012, the school board, faculty and staff, and community came together in community conversations to develop a strategic plan. This strategic plan guides all the work we do in our schools. It includes an emphasis on personalizing education for each student to help ensure each reaches his or her full potential upon graduation from the district. The strategic plan also includes goals to keep us aligned with state and national education policy as well as ensure fiscal responsibility at all times. We welcome a new corps of teachers as well as our K4 and Kindergarten students. We are confident the coming school year will be one of excitement and learning and new challenges. We are looking forward to all the challenges and rewards this year will bring.
