This Just In ...

Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely young daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.

Wildlife and nasty stuff

Franklin just approved a new ordinance requiring new windows be used to replace broken windows on foreclosed or abandoned homes in subdivisions rather than plywood.

Fine. But if the powers that be truly cared about conditions that lead to foreclosures and board ups, they‘d put a dramatic stop to the obscene taxing and spending in our city.

Over the holidays I got together with a cousin who lives in Waukesha. She has more house, more land, and roads and schools and other services that are just as nice, if not better than Franklin. But she pays a little over $3,000 in property taxes whereas I pay a little under $8,000.

I’m sorry. There is no reason or explanation.

Not everyone in Franklin is swimming in cold cash. We are not immune to the rough economy. So we’ve got foreclosures, too.

CNBC's Diana Olick takes a foreclosed home tour in Lawrenceville, Georgia, with Kyle Sweet, from Key Property Systems, which purchased the house at auction Tuesday for $80,000. Watch what they found.
