Dear Franklin Citizens and District 4 Residents,
I am a Franklin resident of 36 years and have been married 40 years to my husband Al. We have two married children who attended Franklin Public Schools, graduated college and have successful careers. We also have two beautiful grandchildren.
I am serving my fifth year as a Franklin School Board member and second year as School Board President. I have been the Chair of the Community and Governmental Relations and Personnel and Policy Committees and member of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. I am a multi-level Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) leadership award recipient.
I have recently retired as an Administrative Assistant in the Oak Creek-Franklin School District (Pupil Services). I have also had previous employment in customer service throughout my life, which included Wisconsin Electric Power Co. and Wixon-Fontarome, where I became ISO 9000 certified as a quality auditor.
I've been a resident of Franklin for my adult life and a lifelong community volunteer in many capacities. I've raised my family in this community and made longtime relationships working side-by-side with children and adults in classrooms, as PTO Vice President, Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout Treasurer, Franklin Little League volunteer and scorekeeper, High School Soccer team manager, Goal Club co-founder and Vice President, and Polonia Youth Soccer Club Director. I am a Franklin Area Parents and Students United (FAPSU) past Board member and website administrator, a Franklin Police Citizens Academy (FPCAAA) graduate, alumni and current Board member.
My Vision and Goals
I am invested in our city of Franklin not only as a leader, but as an involved member of the community who can represent a constituency as someone who belongs, is dedicated, and consistently available.
I am committed to engaging citizens in the process of local government. I intend to be proactive in the issues and concerns of the citizens of the 4th District, and the entire community. Franklin citizens deserve, and should demand public servants who are respectful, humble, tolerant and who listen rather than lecture.
Public Safety is important to our community. Our neighborhoods need to be strengthened. I will encourage working together with law enforcement and community organizations to prevent theft, vandalism — and all crime in our neighborhoods.
I believe Franklin's identity has not kept pace with its growth. As a longtime resident, I say leaders need to ask our newest citizens what attracted them to Franklin, and ask our longtime citizens what about Franklin keeps them here. In order to move us ahead, we need to keep connected with our longtime residents who know Franklin”s past and include them in our planning for the future. This will make us a stronger community.
We welcome new business opportunities to look at Franklin, but we then require lengthy processes that send many proposals out the door to settle in surrounding communities. We need to explore and achieve in order to make progress. Along with that comes working towards efficient, effective and high-performing city departments and services, along with responsible budgeting that looks towards reducing the size of government.
As a School Board member and Board President I have demonstrated effective leadership qualities which have helped strengthen relationships between the Board and Administration. I value organization, dependability, and transparency. I will continue to serve in the capacity of School Board member if elected as Alderman District 4, as I see this as a beneficial, positive bridge between the City and Franklin Public Schools.
In order to serve your constituents, you also need to be a participant. I am a community member having roots in Franklin that include raising a family, volunteering, and forming relationships throughout the years built on daily living versus campaigning, and I hope to continue to make Franklin my home for many years to come.
I respectfully ask for your vote for Alderman District 4 on Tuesday, April 1st.
