UPDATE: Week-ends (06/19/10)

Was I wrong about Sara Carbonero, the woman many claim to be the sexiest journalist in the world?

In my Week-ends blog for June 19, 2010, I designated the lovely Carbonero as one of my VILLAINS OF THE WEEK.  I agreed with the conventional wisdom that Carbonero’s mere presence caused her boyfriend, the goalie for Spain, to blow a big World Cup game early in the competition.

It reminded me of the reported effect Jessica Simpson…

Had on boyfriend, Dallas QB Tony Romo of Burlington, WI...

Simpson, it was thought, kept Romo off his game.

Carbonero took some needling, too.

But hold on.

And then during the World Cup title game.....

Casillas, with Carbonero watching from nearby, didn't allow a goal as Spain shutout the Netherlands, 1-0.

Maybe Carbonero wasn't so much a distraction as she was an inspiration.

Don't you just love a happy ending!
