Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely baby daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.

Shame on them: 3 Milw. Co supervisors try to capitalize on death of teenager

Unfortunately, it was bound to happen.

In what will be a true textbook grandstanding stunt and gimmick, three Milwaukee County supervisors Wednesday will march from a union HQ to O’Donnell Park to hold a news conference to politicize the tragic death of a 15-year old. They are:

1)       Supervisor John Weishan

2)       Supervisor Chris Larson

3)       Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic

None are members of County Executive Scott Walker’s fan club.

Consider this phony, revealing and all too transparent quote from Weishan in the Daily Reporter. Weishan wants an independent investigation of the O’Donnell accident:

“Even if it wasn’t a political season,” Weishan said Tuesday, “I’m not confident that Milwaukee County can do the investigation and possibly find themselves liable. … I want to bring fairness to the process because a tragedy of this level deserves an honest review.”

Even if it wasn’t a political season? Supervisor, you’re doing this BECAUSE IT IS A POLITICAL SEASON!

And isn’t this interesting. County Board Chairman Lee Holloway is one of Walker’s most outspoken critics, and yet, according to the Daily Reporter:

“Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors Chairman Lee Holloway did not immediately return calls for comment. His spokesman, Harold Mester, said Holloway does not believe a third party investigation is necessary at this point. “

I challenge Milwaukee media to boycott this political stunt and give it the coverage it deserves: NONE.

Shame on Weishan, Larson, and Dimitrijevic for trying to make political points out of the tragedy of a young boy.
