into forest program
Greendale — The woods near Canterbury Elementary and Greendale Middle schools have been registered as school forests within the Wisconsin Community Forest Program.
The certification will allow for the expansion of the district's outdoor classroom space and increase opportunities within the existing curriculum at all grade levels and across disciplines.
As a registered school forest, Greendale School District will be eligible to receive free forest management assistance from the state Department of Natural Resources and free seedlings from the state nursery program. The district also will be able to apply for grants from the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board and to receive assistance from a statewide school forest education specialist.
