It's the Fourth times four

Four neighboring communities have a full schedule of holiday activities this weekend, with some events beginning today.

Here is a roundup of Independence Day events in Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners and Oak Creek.

FRANKLIN

All events at Lion's Legend Park, Loomis and Drexel avenues, unless otherwise indicated.

Today. Festival area is open from 5 to 11:30 p.m.

5-7 p.m.: Knock on Wood band

6-10 p.m.: Franklin Idol

6-11 p.m.: Guitar Hero competition

7:30-11:30 p.m.: Love Monkeys band

Friday. Festival area is open from 5 to 11:30 p.m.

5-7 p.m.: Screaming Cucumbers band

6-8 p.m.: Are you smarter than a Franklin fifth grader?

6-10 p.m.: battle of the bands

6-11 p.m.: Guitar Hero competition

7:30-11:30 p.m.: Rhythm Method band

8:30-10:30 p.m.: arm wrestling contests

Saturday. Festival area is open from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

9:45-10:30 a.m.: Gino's Kid Show, at Police Department parking lot, 9455 W. Loomis Road

10:30 a.m.: children's parade begins

11 a.m.: main parade begins, starting at Loomis and Forest Hill, proceeding north on Loomis Road, to right on Drexel Avenue to the fire station, 8901 W. Drexel Ave.

12:30-1:15 p.m.: Next Step Dance Studio

12:30-3:30 p.m.: Happy Schnapps Combo band

12:30-8 p.m.: Guitar Hero competition

1:30-2:30 p.m.: Gino's Kid Show

2:45-3:30 p.m.: clown show

3:45-4:30 p.m.: Anita's Dance Studio

4:30-6:30 p.m.: Old School Duo

5-5:45 p.m.: winning band from battle of the bands

6:30-9:30 p.m.: Dave Fitzpatrick Band

6:30-6:50 p.m.: University of Wisconsin Marching Band ensemble

7:30-11:30 p.m.: Mt. Olive band

9:30 p.m.: Fireworks

GREENDALE

Friday

4-9 p.m.: American Legion Post 416 Corn Roast, Gazebo Park, Broad Street and Schoolway.

4-11 p.m.: Greendale Lions Club Food and Beer Garden, Gazebo Park

6-10 p.m.: Bobby Way & Rhonda band, Gazebo Park

Saturday

9 a.m.: public reading of the Declaration of Independence, flagpole at Village Hall, 6500 Northway

9 a.m. to 9 p.m.: American Legion Post 416 Corn Roast

9 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Greendale Lions Club Food and Beer Garden

10:30 a.m.: parade begins at Grange and Northway, continues down Northway to Broad Street and ends at Greendale High School. Ice cream giveaway at Jaycee Park immediately following the parade.

1-5 p.m.: Dusk band, Gazebo Park

6-10 p.m.: New Revue, Gazebo Park

Dusk: Fireworks, Gazebo Park and Greendale High School area

Sunday

11 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Greendale Lions Club Food & Beer Garden

1-5 p.m.: Fran the Piano Man

HALES CORNERS

Saturday

8 a.m.: Firecracker Four Run, Hales Corners Park

9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: antique and classic car show, Holz Chevrolet, 5961 S. 108th Place

9 a.m.: parade judging followed by children's games and Culver's custard, Hales Corners Elementary School, 11319 W. Godsell Ave.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: open house at the fire station, 10000 W. Forest Home Ave., as well as blood pressure readings, misting tent and children's activities.

Noon: pie judging, Hales Corners Library

12-3 p.m.: Ben Hunt Cabin, Hale Summer Kitchen open houses

1:30 p.m.: bed races, 113th Street and Janesville Road

3-10 p.m.: Pool Party fundraiser, Hales Corners pool

4 p.m.: Parade, starting at 102nd Street and Forest Home Avenue and ending at Village Hall, 5635 S. New Berlin Road

7-9 p.m.: DJ entertainment, Hales Corners Park

Dusk: Fireworks, Hales Corners Park

OAK CREEK

Events at the American Legion Park, 9327 S. Shepard Ave.

Friday

Antique car show

5 to 9 p.m.: The Skunks featuring Larry Lynne (outside)

5 to 9 p.m.: Jammit (inside)

Saturday

9 a.m.: parade, starting at the corner of Groveland Drive and Shepard Avenue and finishing at East Middle School.

11 a.m.: ice cream and cracker jacks

11:30 a.m.: games run by Oak Creek cheerleaders - penny scramble, sack races, water balloon toss, golf games

11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Nashville Rejects (outside)

11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Best of Everything (inside)

1-4 p.m.: tee-ball, baseball and softball games

5-9 p.m.: Chuck Travis (outside)

5-9 p.m.: The Starlites (inside)

Dusk: fireworks
