Franklin sets dates for girls hoops camps
Franklin will hold its girls basketball camps Monday to Wednesday, at Southwood Glen Elementary School.
The first session, for girls entering fifth and sixth grades, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The second session, for girls entering seventh, eighth and ninth grades, will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.

Oak Creek sets June dates for girls basketball camp
The Oak Creek girls basketball camp will be held Monday to Thursday.
The session for fourth- through sixth-grade players will run from 9 to 11 a.m. The seventh- through ninth-grade players will go from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Tellefsen sets dates for tennis camps
Oak Creek tennis coach Don Tellefsen will run camps for grade/middle school and high school boys and girls.
There will be four sessions for the grade/middle school camps: Monday to Thursday; July 13 to 17 and July 20 to 24. All run from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Six sessions are scheduled for high school players: Monday to Thursday; July 6 to 10; July 13 to 16; July 20 to 23; and July 27 to 30. There are camps for fundamentals and competition.

Soccer club announces two tryout dates
Polonia Soccer will hold tryouts for its U16 boys teams June 29 and July 1.
Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. and tryouts will begin at 6 p.m.
Polonia is located at 10200 W. Loomis Road in Franklin. All players interested in tryouts should bring a $100 deposit.

Franklin boys volleyball camp coming in August
The Franklin boys volleyball camp will run from Aug. 3 to Aug. 7 at Country Dale Elementary School.
The camp, which costs $70, is for incoming fifth- through ninth-graders.
The camp will focus on volleyball fundamentals: passing, setting, serving, attaching and blocking. Each day will focus on a specific skill with fun competitive games to follow at the end of each day. A Franklin volleyball T-shirt will also be given to each camper that registers by July 13.

Oak Creek volleyball camps planned for July
Oak Creek volleyball coach Karen Lois will run four volleyball camps July 13 to July 16.
A session for those in fifth and sixth grade and another for those in seventh and eighth will run from 8 to 10 a.m. The ninth-grade session will go from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The session for grades 10 through 12 is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Oak Creek football camp scheduled for late July
Oak Creek football coach Mike Bartholomew will hold a camp for student-athletes entering grades six through nine from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 27 to 30.

Franklin pitcher Schiltz will attend Indian Hills
Franklin senior pitcher Ian Schiltz has committed to play at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa.
Schiltz, an honor roll student, was brought up as a sophomore and pitched in the 2007 WIAA state tournament. He was 2-1 last season in seven games, allowing 24 hits in 27 innings, striking out 33 and walking 18 with a 2.85 earned run average. Schiltz also plays shortstop and second base.
Indian Hills made appearances in the JUCO World Series in 2003 and 2004. Last year, the Falcons had nine players named Academic All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Franklin boys basketball staff to run four camps
Franklin will hold four sessions of boys basketball camps this summer.
The camp for boys entering eight and ninth grades will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 13 to 16, at Southwood Glen Elementary School. The cost is $80.
The camp for boys entering sixth and seventh grades will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 27 to 30, at Southwood Glen. The cost is $80.

Franklin Legion baseball team looking for players
Franklin American Legion Post 192 is looking for varsity level high school baseball players for the 2009 summer season.
The team will play a 20-game season against southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois legion teams, ending with a regional tournament in Beloit, with possibility of advancing to the state tournament in Wisconsin Rapids and the national tournament.

Greendale's Croak makes all-WIAC softball squad
Greendale's Rachel Croak, a junior right fielder for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, has been named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball team.
Croak collected 50 hits in 122 at-bats, including five doubles and a home run, for a .410 average, scored 46 runs and drove in 11. She stole a team-high 13 bases in 16 attempts and committed just one error.
The Eagles earned their first WIAC championship with a 2-0 victory over UW-Superior in the league's tournament title game and finished 12-4 in league play and 34-10 for the regular season.
Greendale's Palecek, Caiati enjoy successful tennis seasons
Two Greendale High School graduates were honored for their contributions to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team this season.
Erich Palecek, a senior, won the Ron Wangerin Coaches Award, and Kelvin Caiati, a junior, was named the team's most dedicated player and a captain for next season.
Palecek was 1-1 in singles and 22-9 in doubles, partnering with Danny Glinert. Caiati was 22-8 in singles and 21-8 in doubles, playing with Alex Lowe.
The Warhawks were 21-8 in dual meets and 16-5 against NCAA
Division III opponents. They competed in the NCAA D-III Tournament.
16U Competitors team seeks fast-pitch players
The Competitors 16U fast-pitch softball team has openings on its 2009 team.
The Competitors play in the Metro Milwaukee Fast-pitch Softball League and in five tournaments during the summer. They are looking for girls who play any position and are from any community in the metro Milwaukee area. Players who were 16 years old or younger on Jan. 1, 2009 are eligible.

Milwaukee Wave sets Greendale soccer camps
The Milwaukee Wave will conduct summer soccer camps at Greendale's Highland View School.
Sessions will run July 6 to 10 and Aug. 3 to 7. The camps offer a mini-kickers program for children ages 4 through 6 as well as the choice of either a half-day or full-day camp for individuals ages 7 through 15. This is the only soccer camp that offers personalized instruction from professional Milwaukee Wave players.
Each camper will receive a soccer ball, a camp T-shirt, a Wave of Value Card with discounts to a variety of places and/or events, a ticket to two select Wave home games and a certificate of participation.

Milwaukee Bucks plan summer camps for youth
The Milwaukee Bucks are offering a series of summer basketball camps for boys and girls in grades two through eight.
Sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. as follows: July 13 to 16, Bucks Training Facility (St. Francis); July 20 to 23, Bucks Training Facility (St. Francis); July 27 to 30, Heritage Christian School (West Allis); and Aug. 3 to 6, Nicolet High School (Glendale).
The camps will be directed by Aaron Sovern, who has directed youth basketball camps for over 13 years. The camps' priorities will be confidence building, sportsmanship values, academic encouragement, team play and basic basketball skill development.

Packers youth football camp to visit County Sports Complex
The Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camp, a weeklong, non-contact day camp presenting football, athletic and life skills and fun, will be offered to children ages 6 through 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13 to 17, at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex, 6000 W. Ryan Road, Franklin.

Registration in progress for three-on-three tourney
Registration has begun for the DJ's Court Tourney, a three-on-three, co-ed basketball tournament to benefit the Christine Rathke Memorial Fund.
The 16-team, double-elimination tourney will be played from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 1, in the Franklin High School gym. The fee is $60 per team. Each teams is allowed one substitute for a total of four players.
