Results from area high school sports

Franklin swimming

Josh Lefeber set two meet records and led the Sabers to the title of the six-team Cudahy Packer Small School Invite on Saturday.

Lefeber won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 51.24 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.26, both new meet marks. He also teamed with James Konkel, Zach Thiemer and Charlie Phil to win the 200 free relay in 1:40.99.

Konkel also won the 50 free in 24.29 for the Sabers, who tallied 299 points and edged runner-up Oak Creek by eight.

In the Southeast Conference opener, the Sabers lost, 110-74, to host Muskego on Dec. 3, despite wins by Steven Fons (diving; 132.50 points), Lefeber (100 breast; 1:06.92) and the 200 free relay (1:42.98).

Franklin girls basketball

Junior Taylor Atkinson's hot streak continued, this time resulting in the Sabers' first win of the season.

Atkinson, who scored 34 points in the first two games of the season, had a game-high 21 in a 76-49 win over Milwaukee Washington on Dec. 1.

Franklin's Cassidy Mihalko scored 14 points and Nikki Dailey had nine.

Oak Creek boys basketball

Danny Rajchel and Nick Stout scored 10 points each and Tyler Magyar scored nine on three 3-pointers as the Knights pulled out a 43-42 road win over Brookfield East on Friday.

Colin DeVoe had 14 points and C.J. Gregg added 11 for the hosts, who made just nine of 20 free throws.

Greendale girls basketball

Mary Merg carried the Panthers to a season-opening split of two league games.

Merg scored 20 points and Kelsey Pohlmann had 11 in a 56-27 home win over St. Francis on Dec. 1.Three nights later Merg had 17 points in a 50-43 loss to Pewaukee.

Greendale/Thomas More wrestling

The undermanned Greendale co-op picked up three pins and two forfeit victories in a Woodland Conference double dual meet at Brown Deer on Dec. 2.

In a 71-12 loss to Whitnall, Chandler Gayan pinned Alex Guzman in 3:57 at 152 pounds and AJ Sciano did the same to Josh Langenoll in 3:54 at 215 for the Panthers, who forfeited six matches.

Nick Savaglia pinned Tebyus Graham in 2:20 at 189 and two of his teammates earned forfeits in Greendale/Thomas More's 47-18 loss to Brown Deer that same night.

Whitnall swimming

The Falcons boys swim team won a season-opening home dual, 87-83, over South Milwaukee on Dec. 1.

Whitnall's 200-yard medley relay of Jesse Hodel, Curtis Wigington, Alex Litzenberg and Nick Ratkowski won in 1:58.10.

Ratkowski (50 and 100 freestyles), Wigington (200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke), Litzenberg (500 free) and Hodel (100 back) also won individual events.

Whitnall wrestling

Whitnall whipped a pair of Woodland Conference foes to open the season Dec. 2.

In a triangular at Brown Deer, Whitnall beat Greendale, 72-12, behind pins from Zach Noel (135 points), Matt Price (140), Zach Menden (145), Jeremy Brunner (189) and Dominic Scardino (285).

Whitnall also got pins from Noel, Price and Scardino in a 64-18 win over the host school.

Greenfield/Greendale swimming

The PantherHawks won their conference opener, 89-81, at Brown Deer on Dec. 2.

Coach Dale Schrank praised Tom Miller's swim in the 100 butterfly, Craig Fleischhacker's efforts in the distance events and Zach Hogan's times in both the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.
