Panthers on the prowl for conference perfection
Undefeated Woodland mark at stake against Cudahy on Friday
Greendale - The Greendale football team moved the ball impressively both through the air and on the ground in a 46-7 romp over Wauwatosa West on Friday night.
Quarterback Sam Brick hit 8 of 16 passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns, while running backs Mike Scheidt and Jake Zywicki combined for 191 yards and two scores for the Panthers.
The victory boosted Greendale to 7-0 in the Woodland Conference and 7-1 overall heading into the regular season finale at home against Cudahy at 7 p.m. Friday.
This will be a crossover game with the Blue Division, and the Panthers have already beaten two foes from the Blue by a combined 97-0 this season.
Greendale will then wait this weekend for the pairings in the WIAA playoffs, which begin on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22.
The Panthers wasted little time against Tosa West on Friday as Scheidt ran for an 11-yard score and tight end Kennedy Ringelberg hauled in a 49-yard touchdown pass from Brick in the first quarter.
Ringelberg caught another scoring pass, this time from 37 yards, then Peter Pekar grabbed a 9-yard touchdown pass to make it 26-0 in the second period.
After West's Mickey Morgan ran back the kickoff 97 yards for a score, Greendale was back at it. Brick ran in from 1 yard out to close the first half at 33-7.
Zywicki and Josh Ringelberg scored after halftime to end Greendale's scoring.
Scheidt finished with 108 yards rushing and Zywicki 83. Kennedy Ringelberg caught three passes for 93 yards and two scores.
