The Franklin Recreation Department is featuring a program for women who are looking to learn about fraud, identity theft and unscrupulous professionals. Titled “Financial Self-Defense for Women,” the class will be taught by Certified Financial Planner Laura Wilcox. The class is being taught at Franklin High School on Wednesday, April 6th from 6 to 7:30pm
“Women may be vulnerable to the effects of fraud and unethical practices by financial professionals. My goal will be to help students identify the ‘red flags’ in their own personal financial universe,” Wilcox said. “This is also a place where students can ask questions, receive unbiased information, and learn in a supportive, non-sales environment.”
Students will be given tools and resources to help them evaluate the investment professionals and investment recommendations that come their way. In addition, they will also explore free online educational resources and investor alerts available from FINRA, the SEC and the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.
Cost of the class is only $14/residents and $21/non-residents. Women interested in registering can call (414) 423-4646 for more information, or sign up via the Franklin Recreation Department website at: http://www.franklinregister.org/Franklin
(go to “Enrichment” and then select: CEEN139 Financial Self Defense for Women)
