U.S. CELLULAR TO SHARE “FIRST PHONE” TIPS FOR GREENDALE PARENTS AT FREE WORKSHOP
Customizable parent-child agreement can help families make the best decision for them
With back-to-school time just around the corner, parents can anticipate juggling busy family schedules and may be thinking about getting their child their first cellphone to help them stay connected. While this may be a momentous occasion, parents are challenged with ensuring their kids are using their phones responsibly, courteously and safely. U.S. Cellular wants to help simplify this time for parents and children, so Greendale associates will offer tips at a free workshop on Saturday, July 19 at 8:00 a.m. at 5275 S. 76th St.
The workshop is open to everyone and will focus on helping families make the decision of when to get children their first phone. Associates will offer tips on setting phone guidelines and discuss tools and apps that can help make this decision as smooth as possible.
“Giving a child their first cellphone is a big step for any parent, so we designed these workshops to be a resource for families and to provide hands-on demonstrations that both parents and children can find useful,” said Laurie Poellinger. “Cellphones can help families stay connected, and there a lot of options to choose from. Our associates can work with you to find a device and plan that works for your family’s individual needs.”
U.S. Cellular recently conducted a survey¹, which found that 72 percent of smartphone users have rules in place for their child’s mobile device. Taking this in to consideration, U.S. Cellular has a Parent-Child Agreement available that can help guide the conversations between parents and children during this time. The agreement is customizable so that families can make it work for their specific needs and gives them the opportunity to create their own guidelines that can help them communicate better as a family.
