Time Warner, Sprout team with Pajama Program to host community pajama party to benefit Wisconsin children in need
On Saturday, Sept. 12, Time Warner Cable will team up with the the Pajama Program and 24-hour preschool television channel Sprout to host a Community Pajama Party at “Movie Under The Stars” at the Southridge Mall in Greendale.
Families are encouraged to come out in their pajamas, enjoy family-friendly activities, watch a movie, and bring along a new pair of pajamas or a new children’s book to donate.
Donations will benefit the Wisconsin children in need through the Pajama Program, a nationwide not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping children in need.
Collections made during the event will go even further, as Sprout will match each donation through “The Great Sprout Tuck-In,” an initiative that extends Sprout’s “Good Night” mission and encourages families to share in the spirit of giving.
Activities are open to the public and begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Southridge Mall with Nina, the host of Sprout’s popular bedtime program The Good Night Show, meeting and greeting families and participating in a variety of kid-friendly activities.
Special performances with Nina take place at 3:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Created as a tool to help parents wind down their children after a busy day, The Good Night Show is hosted by Nina and her puppet friend Star, and airs every night on Sprout from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. ET. Nina and Star play games, sing bedtime songs, make crafts, read stories and teach words in Spanish and sign language to children all over the country.
“We are proud to work with the Pajama Program and Sprout on this wonderful initiative and are hoping that families will be inspired to participate in our event, share a pair of new PJs or a new book, and enjoy a special family experience,” said Stacy Zaja, Director of Community & Media Relations Time Warner Cable.
“We are so excited to partner with Sprout and Time Warner Cable on this event to help children in Wisconsin,” said Genevieve Piturro, founder and Executive Director of the Pajama Program. “There are over 8,000 children in the foster care system in our state alone and over half a million nationwide. Many of these children have never owned a pair of pajamas and don’t know the comfort of being tucked into a cozy bed and having a bedtime story read to them. It is our mission to provide new pajamas and new books to help make bedtime better for more kids.”
"'The Great Sprout Tuck-In’ was designed to celebrate Sprout’s core values of learning, growing and inspiring ideas for preschoolers and their families to share together,” said Sandy Wax, President of Sprout. “We believe that every child deserves a good night, and we are so honored that Time Warner Cable in Wisconsin has partnered with us for this event to help local children.”

Founded in 2001 by Genevieve Piturro and her friends and family, the Pajama Program has since grown into a nationwide 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization with 72 local chapters in 44 states that have distributed more than 400,000 new pajamas and books to children in need. Hundreds of thousands of children have been abandoned or placed into the foster care system and most are deprived of any love at all. The new pajamas and new books collected by the Pajama Program go directly to children in need all over the country, as well as those in foster care who are waiting and hoping to be adopted, many of whom do not know the comforts of a mother or father tucking them into a cozy bed and reading them a bedtime story.
